Take this quote by English Poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning for instance.  I think that as a poet living during the Victorian Era, Browning knew the value of not dwelling on mistakes of the past.

Instead of dwelling on the past, we should use our experiences to make a better life for tomorrow.

Poor self-esteem is a major consequence of depression.  As a result, you may not know your true value and may cause you to think that others don't value you either.

Take steps to improve your self-esteem and you'll instantly improve your mood.

Ditching worry and changing negative thought patterns are a couple of ways to boost self-esteem.  I'd devoted an entire module around improving self-esteem in this free mental health e-course.

Why is life so hard?

I used to ask myself this question all the time.

I'm sure you have too.

But my mom used to say that, "We are never given more than we can handle."

Over the years, I've found that this is true.  And it made me realize how strong I was to survive all that I've lived through.

You're strong too. Even if you believe the opposite is true.

We all want to appear in control, even when life is knocks us about.  But it's OK to admit when you're going through a hard time.

It's not reality that life will be great 100% of the time.

So be real with yourself and with those around you. Depression can really drag you down. So, when you need help ask for it.

Face it; when depression strikes, you might feel so bad that even getting out of bed in the morning can be difficult.

Even the thought of completing tasks on that to-do-list is just out of the question.

I think is one of my favorite quotes about depression.  It's so true that sometimes all you can do is just take life one day at a time.

Well, that's just the way to go.

Do what you can and don't beat yourself up for feeling depressed or "not doing enough."

Remember: Tomorrow is another day.

Depression sucks, there's no doubt about that.

But, often the trials and tribulations of life make us stronger. This strength gives us a deeper appreciation life that awaits once the clouds part and we are drenched in light.

Overcoming depression is a journey. Heck, some would say it's an odyssey.

There are many different and effective ways to achieve good mental health.

Choose your own path and pay no mind to the negative opinions of others.

What are your favorite quotes about depression? I'd love to know what they are.
